Heroes Returns September 15, 2008

Fans of the hit NBC series Heroes can rest easy, with the knowledge that the series is coming back to the airwaves on September 15, 2008. However, series producers told SCI FI Wire that the spin-off series Heroes: Origins is officially dead.

Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC Entertainment stated "We consciously chose to rest [Heroes] this spring so that [creator] Tim Kring and his team could get ahead of the creative and build up to a massive event--a three-hour Heroes night. On Monday, Sept. 15, we'll kick off with a Heroes clip show to try to bring back the audience and [then air] a massive two-hour Heroes film."

So why was the highly anticipated Heroes: Origins scrapped?

"We were taxing our creative team to do too much around that," Silverman said. "We wanted 35 Heroes [episodes] and 12 Heroes: Origins, each of which was supposed to be a mini-movie and backdoor pilot. We reached far and challenged our people, and we decided it was better to focus on keeping the Heroes mothership as strong as possible."

Before being cancelled, Heroes: Origins had already lined up numerous writers and directors, including Kevin Smith, Eli Roth and Michael Dougherty.

Heroes airs Monday nights at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC.

I cant wait for season 3 to come back, do you think there will be 22 episodes?

I hope so, but I'm not too sure...would be nice to have it back as 22, but I reckon they might cut it down, unfortunately!

Still not watched the 2nd series yet. We downloaded it all and watched the 1st few, then I put PB and the rest is history!!!

Must make sure I watch it now then I can look forward to S3

I think S2 will be on tv soon, but i recommend the alternative..its much faster

In the Sky guide it had a thing about Heroes and it said "coming soon" but had nothing about a date or anything!

May 24th 2008

Today NBC announced it's official Fall schedule and confirmed that Heroes will return with a 3-hour event on September 22nd at 8PM. Initial reports had the premiere scheduled for Sept. 15th, so adjust your calendars, because it is now officially planned for Sept. 22nd.

NOTE: The first hour will be a recap episode, which will then be followed by the two hour Season 3 premiere.
