Dexter - General TalkI started watching this show a few weeks ago and got hooked, its so awesome, id recommend it to anyone. Please tell me someone else watches it !!

I started watching it coz you recommended it and I'm completely hooked as well. Just watched the first 7 episodes by now. It's just so strange but so damn good.
I friggin' love the opening credits. So brilliant... And this show is a quotes haven for me, haha... all the voice overs are too awesome. Eventhough his voice is pretty annoying in the beginning, but I got used to it now... "Everyone hides who they are at least some of the time. Sometimes you bury that part of yourself so deeply that you have to be reminded that it's there at all, and sometimes you just want to forget who you are altogether." (Ep. 1.04) So yeah, I've found another favourite TV Show.

I already finished S1 a week ago, I have to keep up with S2 now. It's so exciting. ^___^ And I had a question after the Ice Truck Killer is revealed. But I wait now til Michelle watched them all as well.. lol... (Just because I know you can't resist clicking spoiler tags... )

Its about a guy who ever since he was a child has had a "hunger" to kill people, so his step father teaches him how to control it y only killing people who deserver it, he has no emotions, but has to pretend to everyone around him (His sister, his girlfriend, workmates ect.) That he is as normal as they come, while doing this he still has feed his "hunger" by killing people

Same here... It starts on the 28th, always Thursdays 20:15... Can't wait to re-watch it on TV actually. (without annoying dub, woohoo!)

It started last night, I know it's abot the 4th time I watched the pilot but still...Man that is one of the best pilots ive ever seen seriously!!!! It seems so much longer than it actually is, so much happens in it...and it wasnt cut or anything whoohoo, so wednesdays at 11 people ITV1 | ||||

Yep, been watching Dexter since it was first shown in the UK on FX (early 2007 ish). I love it, it's brilliant. It' being shown on ITV1 on Weds @ 10.35pm in the UK now, 2nd episode was on this week. It's repeated on ITV4 on a Friday but not sure what time. It's really hard to explain to people what it's about without people looking at you like you're mad, but it's soo worth it
I think Michael C Hall plays an excellent part. One of my favourite episodes is "Shrink wrapped" - brilliant, that's all I can say... go Dex

Well Mush and Sas have recommended Dexter to be and I totally loved it right away.
I watched like all of season one and two in like 1 and 1/2 weeks. So now I cannot wait to see season three.

There's quite a long re-cap at the start of each episode but not really enough to give you the details.
Although I did notice something again in the opening credits.... we see him having a shave (and cutting himself) but by the time he's cooked & eaten brekkie and got dressed, he has stubble again

I didn't know when I saw the trailers for the programme that it was a book, it was only a couple of episodes in I noticed the based on....
I think it would ruin the series for me now if I read the books. I do WANT to read them, but I have the TV Dexter in my head. If I'd known, I'd definitely have read the books first - I always try and do that

I'm a bit confused about Dexter himself.. is he an actual clinical psychopath? How come he doesn't have feelings.. but can still feel empathy for other people? And how come he likes eating so much, but doesn't like sex? | ||||

Haha good questions Fi, Yeah I think he is supposed to be a clinical psychopath, if he hadn't been raised by his adoptive dad he wouldnt have any empathy for anyone in fact i don't think he shows much anyway but the little he does show is down to his dad trying to instill some morals in him lmao, see how bad **** turned out cos he never had that good influence that understood his psychosis like dexters dad did for him well that's my views lmao |

How far are you Fi? But yeah, he just got sort of "moral guidelines" through his Foster dad. He just kills by his dad's "code". I don't think he has any feelings at all, he's just faking them to appear "normal"... Maybe we should all read the novels to understand him better, lol. I love the episode Dex visits the psychiatrist (S1, epi 8 or 9 I believe?!) it tells a lot about his past and how he became what he is... |

I watched season 1 episode 2 the other night. I'll guess I'll keep watching and my questions will be answered. But it's making it difficult for me to understand what motivates him in his interactions with people. |

Ok I couldn't help myself, I did some research and ran into a few spoilers, lol, but now I'm satisfied. I don't think Dexter has no feelings, I feel as if events in his youth might have traumatised him into a numbness and the urges to kill come from the same trauma. He has a soft spot for kids, which is telling. Psychopaths are cruel and have no remorse, also they can't abstain from their urges like the rest of us, whereas Dexter manages to resist. So I don't think he is what he thinks he is. | ||||

Dexter is the most amazing show on TV, well is joint with PB of course. If you haven't seen this show I suggest you watch it NOW lol. Its fantastic!! And Dexter is strangly quite hot! If you have seen this show and didn't like it, then you are mental lol
