Hi, guys and girls. I'm a 21 y.o. Ukrainian born Aussie girl who got hooked on PB very recently by my best friend who had the entire 4 seasons except the last 6 eps on DVD. You can guess what I've been doiong for the past 4 weeks now that I'm on uni holidays PB was huge in Oz for its entire run but i somehow managed to miss it, making up for it now. I hardly watch TV and can't stand American shows, but PB restored my faith in the ability of American TV industry to churn out true quality at least occasionally. I watched all the special features on season 1, now waiting impatiently for season 2 from the library. I've yet to see teh last 6 eps of seaon 4 but unfortunately already know what happens in our internet-dominated day and age
What else can I say? The acting on the show is terrific all round except a few minor casting letdowns like LJ, Nika and Bill Kim. In fact all these actors should be in film, they're way too good for TV. The show has so much heart. I love the fact that it has no black or white either - every character on the show is in some way or other criminally guilty, Mahone probably the biggest mix of good and bad. Oh, and Wentworth satisfies even my extremely picky tastes in hot leading men lol He has the most pleasant voice I've heard in a while. In fact, aside from Season 3, the show is near perfect. Hope to meet some other PB obsessives here!
Nice to see another Aussie on board I'm Australian myself...born & Bred here though. You're Ukrainian born? I believe that's the same place actress Milla Jovovich is from right? I've been chatting with her a bit on twitter since she started filming Resident Evil with Wentworth. Do you speak Russian too? I'd love to be bilingual.
I agree Prison Break had a huge following in Oz, I watched it from the very beginning and was more than happy when Prime chose this program to fast track.
Unfortunately like most good shows, Australia tends to lose interest in its latter seasons to make room for the newer programs and after the writers strike at the end of season three, Australian tv lost total interest in Prison Break.
The final five episodes of Season Three were aired the following year right before the start of the Fourth Season which also went from its regular 9:30pm timeslot to being pushed back to 11:30pm and was often the program dropped from the schedule when they aired special programs earlier in the night.
I didn't mind the guest roles of LJ & Bill Kim but I do agree Holly Valance was horrible in the role of Nika. I thought her accent was terrible and her performance came across waay to fake. I'm not sure if it was my prior experience with watching her on Neighbours which ruined her for me or not but I did not buy her role at all.
I agree with your description that all the characters were criminally guilty in their own way and Mahone definitely was the biggest mix of good and bad...I also think Michael was high on the criminally guilty list as well, especially during Seasons 2 & 3. Whilst what he was doing was for the 'greater good,' he did break the law many times over to achieve it. In particular during Season 3 when he became vengeful after Sara's apparent death. I also think Lincoln during Season 4, his character was constantly pulling the trigger.
I actually quite liked season three, more for the fact I enjoy watching Michael when he's behind bars, I think he is at his best when he is planning and strategizing his escape.

Hi, Mercurial, I speak both Russian and Ukrainian, trying tog et translator accreditation here. Yeah, Mila Jovovich is from Kiev, moved tot eh States when she was 12. Wentworth is part Russian too. Pity that his acting deteriorates so much through the show. starting from very good in season 1.
